I am directed by the Minister of Health to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 5th instant (.26780/1920) relative to the request from Dr.G. F. Petrie of the Lister Institute of Preventive Medicine for statistics! of plague (cases and deaths) in Hong-kong for fortnightly or monthly periods in each year since 1894 and in reply I am to state for the information of the Secretary of State that, the information in possession of the Ministry is incomplete and they are unable to supply the statistica in

the form desired by Dr. Petrie.

I am, however, to point out that much of the

information is contained in the Annual Reports on the Health and Sanitary Conditions of Hong Kong (e.g. Report for year, 1905) and in special reports on plague in Hong Kong, and I am to suggest that, if these reports are available for reference in the library of the Colonial
